WELCOMING SHABBAT

Shabbat is more than a day of refraining from worldly activity.

When experienced to its spiritual fullest, its holiness enlightens all other days of the week.

We invite you to enhance your Shabbat with these words of Torah.

The spies carrying a giant thing of grapes on a stick

“I Spy With My Little Eye” – Parshat Shelach

“I Spy With My Little Eye” – Parshat Shelach

Sinclair, Rabbi Yaakov Asher
June 20, 2022

“The correct way of creation is that we are supposed to see what is really there and express that. The peh [mouth] is at the service of the ayin [eye].

The ayin sees and the peh expresses that. That is man’s job…

Only HKBH can [do things the other way]…. In [the book of] Bereshit, it says many times ‘Hashem spoke and He saw it was good’. Hashem speaks, and he [then] sees. Only Hashem…is able to write the script and then see it.

So to speak the meraglim [spies] went into Eretz Yisrael and… created a script… They spoke and then they saw what they spoke… They spoke with their mouths [peh] that which they did not see with their eyes [ayin]… they put their mouth before their eyes.

HKBH should help us…to use our eyes, the ayin tov and the peh tov. To speak good, and by speaking good we will see good… When a person trains himself to speak good, automatically there is a symbiotic relationship and he will see good.”
