WELCOMING SHABBAT

Shabbat is more than a day of refraining from worldly activity.

When experienced to its spiritual fullest, its holiness enlightens all other days of the week.

We invite you to enhance your Shabbat with these words of Torah.

Korach – Peaceful Disagreements

Korach – Peaceful Disagreements

Riter, Rebbetzin Orit Esther
July 1, 2022

“What does it mean to have an argument for the sake of heaven?… We must learn from the [lessons of Korach], enabling the rectification to happen.

When we engage in an argument, we must be humble enough to open ourselves up to what someone else is thinking… Maybe there is something that someone else is telling me that is valuable to me… [to] become aware of another way of thinking….[and] to learn and grow from them [by listening] to their viewpoint.

If it is something that the Torah forbids…we have an obligation to stand up and be zealous and fight…for the honor of Hashem.

[In this world, good and evil are intermingled and are present in every person and situation. Our task is to seek out the good and raise its sparks of holiness. We can also implement this when faced with a disagreement with another, by applying the above-mentioned idea].”
