WELCOMING SHABBAT

Shabbat is more than a day of refraining from worldly activity.

When experienced to its spiritual fullest, its holiness enlightens all other days of the week.

We invite you to enhance your Shabbat with these words of Torah.

[This is the statement which is the] basis in the Torah all about prophecy…‘Hear now my words: If there shall be a prophet among you, in a vision shall I G-d make myself known to them. In a dream shall I speak with them. Not so is my servant, Moses, in my entire house, he is the trusted one. Mouth to mouth do I speak to him, in a clear vision and not in riddles. At the image of G-d he gazes.’

What we learn here is so much of the general ideas about prophecy and the difference between Moses and all other prophets…. Moses had a direct line to

G-d… he had clear prophecy. All the other prophets had unclear prophecy… [They received] a clear message but it’s enclothed in symbolism…and the experience [was] overwhelming.”
