WELCOMING SHABBAT

Shabbat is more than a day of refraining from worldly activity.

When experienced to its spiritual fullest, its holiness enlightens all other days of the week.

We invite you to enhance your Shabbat with these words of Torah.

The world with a black background

Or HaChaim – Vol. 1

Or HaChaim – Vol. 1

Hashem created everything in one Utterance…

The Sages…said that the word Bereshis…constitutes an Utterance, for, with that word, the Sages filled out their count of the Ten Utterances with which the world was created…

Thus…with the word Bereishis, everything that exists in the heavens and on the earth [was created].

However, the world was not yet organized… It was with the other nine Utterances, which appear throughout the Creation narrative, that the Holy One, blessed is He, arranged all the creations, each on its respective day…

God BLESSED the Seventh Day AND SANCTIFIED IT because on it He abstained from all His work which GOD created to make (Bereshit 2:3).

He created on the First Day, (which was the only day of actual ‘creation’) to make, meaning…throughout the six-day period He developed and arranged everything He had created…

Everything was CREATED on the First Day, with one Utterance, but it was lacking development and organization…[The accomplishment of this organization is defined by the term TO MAKE].”
