WELCOMING SHABBAT

Shabbat is more than a day of refraining from worldly activity.

When experienced to its spiritual fullest, its holiness enlightens all other days of the week.

We invite you to enhance your Shabbat with these words of Torah.

Living Torah – Parashas Acharei Mot-Kedoshim

Pfeffer, Rabbi Yehoshua
April 28, 2022

In this week’s Torah portion, it is written], ‘Keep my laws, my ordinances… and v’chai bahem, he shall live by them…’

How is it that keeping the Torah gives us life? Surely we have life even if we don’t keep the Torah.

All of the Torah is the story of our relationship with Hashem, and the mitzvot that are given to us as a part of the Torah, are an articulation, an expression of that closeness.

When we do a mitzvah… we are, in fact living out our relationship with G-d.

We are living in a human existence… [and] when we do that together with mitzvot, we are elevating our own lives to a level of relationship with HKBH, a closeness to Him.”
