“In this week’s Torah portion, it is written], ‘Keep my laws, my ordinances…and v’chai bahem, he shall live by them…’
How is it that keeping the Torah gives us life? Surely we have life even if we don’t keep the Torah.
All of the Torah is the story of our relationship with Hashem, and the mitzvot that are given to us as a part of the Torah, are an articulation, an expression of that closeness.
When we do a mitzvah…we are, in fact living out our relationship with G-d.
We are living in a human existence…[and] when we do that together with mitzvot, we are elevating our own lives to a level of relationship with HKBH, a closeness to Him.”
